Not at all. Fill the container, clip in a battery, set the flow, and squeeze. The two habits worth learning on day one: keep the gun a steady distance from the surface, and move in overlapping passes. Do a test pass on cardboard first and you'll have it in two minutes.

Clean it right after each use — dried paint is the number one killer of any sprayer. Empty the container, run clean water (or the appropriate solvent for oil-based products) through the gun until it sprays clear, then use the included brush and needle on the nozzle. Under five minutes.

Any sprayer produces some overspray — that's physics, not a defect. Mask edges, lay a drop cloth, and work at the lowest flow setting that still covers. Indoors, ventilate the room and wear the FFP2 mask included in the box.
